On November 5th, the professional baseball team Hanshin Tigers won the Japan Series for the first time in 38 years, which will decide who will be the best in Japan in this year’s professional baseball pennant league. Many people visited Dotonbori, a sacred place in the Hanshin area where Hanshin Tigers fans traditionally gather, to celebrate Hanshin’s victory.

Why do Hanshin fans come to gather in the Minami area of Osaka?
Osakans are festival-loving people, so if there’s an event where young people gather and have fun, a few people will usually dive in.
The Osaka people’s characteristic “wanting to stand out” and “love for festivals” customs are clearly evident, and the fact that the Minami area was a big hit 38 years ago when they won last time is a big influence

There were people who took the plunge during the 2002 World Cup, and there were people who took the plunge the previous year in 2001 when the Kintetsu Buffaloes won the league championship.
Even in January 2002, when no events were taking place, there was a tragic incident in which a drunk and excited person jumped in and drowned.

The championship parade for professional baseball teams Hanshin Tigers and Orix Buffaloes will be held on November 23rd at two locations: Sannomiya, Kobe City, Hyogo Prefecture, and Midosuji, Osaka City. This is the first time since 1964 that a Kansai baseball team has won the championship in the same season, and the first time that the victory parade will be held on the same day.
The parade will be held with sponsorship from businesses and donations from individuals, and will be collecting funds through crowdfunding until November 30th.
