Today, September 3rd, a disaster prevention drill called the “Osaka 8.8 Million People Drill” will be held across the entire Osaka Prefecture.
The “Osaka 8.8 Million People Drill” is planned to be conducted with the aim of disseminating disaster information to the residents of Osaka Prefecture in the event of a major earthquake or tsunami, utilizing information transmission tools such as area mail and emergency alert mail.
An earthquake is expected to occur at 3 p.m., and
announcements will be made from outdoor speakers throughout Osaka Prefecture and from in-building broadcasts at facilities, etc. At 3:03 p.m., a large tsunami warning will be issued.
Training area emails and emergency alert emails will be sent to the mobile phones of people in the Osaka Prefecture area. These emergency alert emails will sound even if the phone is on silent mode.
Foreign tourists may be surprised by the sudden emergency email, but since this is an evacuation drill, if they remain calm and participate, their disaster prevention awareness will also increase.
