Tensta means “Tenri stamina ramen”

Tenri Stamina Ramen, affectionately known as “Tensta,” is a local ramen brand that was born in Tenri City, Nara in the 1970s.

It is characterized by its spicy soy sauce soup with stir-fried vegetables, and has long been a favorite of hungry customers, especially local students and workers.

The soup is made with a pork bone and soy sauce base, accented with plenty of garlic and chili peppers. The ingredients include Chinese cabbage, carrots, Chinese chives, pork belly, and more. When combined with the unique elastic noodles, it’s just the best!

This “stamina-boosting” ramen is sure to soothe your tired body, and is perfect for a tiring evening after a day of sightseeing, or as a final meal after a night of drinking.

You can experience the essence of Nara soul food while in Osaka.

The location is right in the middle of the Minami area, along the Dotonbori River.

This store is located in the center of the Namba area, along the Dotonbori River. It is a 5-minute walk from Nankai Namba Station, and within walking distance of Osaka Metro Namba Station and Shinsaibashi Station, making it a perfect location for stopping by while sightseeing.

The restaurant is right on the riverside of Dotonbori. It’s close to Ebisubashi Bridge and the Glico sign, so it’s recommended to stop by while sightseeing. At night, eating ramen in a location with sparkling neon lights feels special.

By the way, the main store has also completed renovation.

They expanded into the Minami area in June 2025, and their flagship store in Nara is also scheduled to reopen

I tried it

It was…a straightforward Tenri stamina ramen!

I ordered the signature “Stamina Ramen (regular)”. It arrived about 5 minutes after I sat down. The steaming bowl was overflowing with vegetables and meat. I took a sip of the soup…oh, the umami of the soy sauce base with a garlic punch! The spiciness lingers.

The noodles are medium-thick and curly, and they mix well with the vegetables and soup, leaving you feeling satisfied with every slurp. The balance between the crunchy texture of the Chinese cabbage and the umami of the pork belly is exquisite. You’ll be hooked.

By the way, you can also order “less garlic”, so it’s a great option for sightseeing or before a date. We also recommend toppings such as soft-boiled eggs and extra pork slices.

It goes great with gyoza too!

It’s right next to Don Quijote in Dotonbori!
